Privacy Policy

Dog Lovers (“we”, “us”, “our”) is a social app that helps single dog owners meet through their dogs — you create a profile for your dog, match with other dogs, and arrange meetups at dog parks. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

• Account information. Your email address and authentication details when you sign up (including via Apple or Google sign-in).
• Dog profile information.Your dog's name, breed, age, size, energy level, play style, bio, personality tags, and the photos you upload.
• Location information. Your home dog park and, only when you choose to check in, your approximate location at a park (see Section 5).
• Activity information. Swipes, matches, badges earned, and check-in history.
• Communications. Messages you send to other users after a match.

• To create and show your dog's profile and find nearby dogs.
• To enable matching, messaging, and playdate coordination.
• To award location-based badges and power the park community board.
• To keep the app safe, enforce our rules, and prevent abuse.
• To send push notifications you have opted into (matches, messages, badges).

Dog Lovers is intentionally privacy-forward. We do notrequire an owner photo, your real name on your public profile, or personal details like your job, income, or height. Your dog's profile is the public-facing identity. You may choose to share an owner photo with a match after matching, but it is never required.

To protect your safety, the primary photo of every profile must be the dog, and we round distance measurements to the nearest kilometre so your exact location cannot be inferred.

Location features are voluntary. When you set a home park or check in at a park, we use your location to show nearby dogs, award badges, and power the live park map. We verify check-ins with a geofence around the park. You can stop sharing location at any time in your device settings; doing so disables location-based features but does not affect your account.

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only: with other users as part of the service (your dog's public profile and, after a match, your chat); with service providers who help us operate (cloud hosting, analytics) under strict contracts; and where required by law or to protect safety.

We keep your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service. When you delete your account, we remove your profile, photos, and personal data. Some information (for example, messages another user received) may remain visible to others as a copy they hold, and we may retain limited records where required by law.

Depending on where you live (including under the GDPR and CCPA), you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information, and to object to or restrict certain processing. You can update most information in the app, and you can delete your account in Settings. To exercise any other right, contact us using the details below and we will respond within the timeframe required by law.

We use industry-standard safeguards, including encryption in transit, row-level access controls on our database, and strict limits on who can read your data. No system is perfectly secure, but we work continuously to protect your information.

Dog Lovers is intended for users aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.

We may update this policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you in the app or by email before they take effect. The “Last updated” date at the top reflects the most recent revision.
